Join Blackthorn

To support its mission of "keeping the tradition alive," Blackthorn Pipe Band welcomes inquiries from pipers and drummers who may wish to join its pipe or drum corps. While we are a registered EUSPBA Grade V band, our primary emphasis is on public and private performances. We have different levels of piping and drumming talent, including competition level players, and our continuing goal is to improve our musical repertoire and our standards of performance. We prefer musicians with some experience and a commitment to attending all band functions and weekly rehearsals, which are held in Byrne and Hanrahan, a restaurant located on McLean Avenue in Yonkers. Alder Manor, an estate in Yonkers owned and operated by The Tara Circle, is an alternate rehearsal site.

We are grateful to both Byrne and Hanrahan and Tara Circle for the generous use of their facilities. Byrne and Hanrahan is a top-rated restaurant with three private rooms very suitable for our rehearsals. Tara Circle is a non-profit organization founded in 1992 in order to provide a home for Irish cultural and educational endeavors and to establish a first class venue in the New York Metropolitan region for use by Irish organizations and individuals.
